Steps to installing your first blog:

You’ll need a few items before installing your blog.
Have a domain name yet?  If not, get a domain name here (Note: they can install a blog automatically). You’ll also need webhosting that‘s PHP enabled. Most webhosting companies offer this so don't worry. Do make sure your webhosting doesn't charge extra for creating a mySQL database as some do. Soon enough you’ll be having fun with setting up your own mySQL database for your blog. So let's start:

• Step 1: Download the latest version of WordPress here and save it to a folder and unzip it.
• Step 2: Pick a blog theme that you like from the WordPress theme's site. Note, choose the look and feel you like taking note of the headers at the top, how many columns you want and even the colors of the template as the closer it is the less effort it will be later to make it fit your needs. Download the theme you like, unzip it and save it to the WordPress download in the \blog\wp-content/themes folder.
• Step 3: Using NotePad, open the wp-config-sample.php and change these lines so they have the correct user database information.
  • define('DB_NAME', 'putyourdbnamehere'); // The name of the database
    define('DB_USER', 'usernamehere'); // Your MySQL username
    define('DB_PASSWORD', 'yourpasswordhere'); // ...and password
    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value
• Step 4: Upload your files to your webhost using your FTP program.
• Step 5: Once completed, open your browser and type in your website name. If you've done everything correctly, all you will have to do is follow the onscreen directions. Basically add your user name and email and it will install itself.
• Step 6: Log in and click on the link that says "Change your site’s look or theme" and select from the available themes your theme you chose ealier. Voila, your done!
